Come celebrate and learn more about the cultures and places that make our JSS world
beautiful at Around the World, a long-time community event making a post-covid
return to Jackson Street School.
JSS families who 1) have a family connection to places, cultures, languages they want
to share or 2) are interested in learning more about other places, cultures, languages
are welcome to participate! JSS Around the World is guided by principles of
appreciation rather than appropriation,* meaning the event will not stereotype or
commodify cultures but will honor, empower, and uplift our JSS communities in
respectful engagement and learning. We’re excited to learn more about each other!

Complete the form by April 12th to participate!

Participation includes creating a display table that showcases the deep appreciation
your family has for the culture they are sharing. Optional elements of a table could
include:
● A poster board with information about music, family stories, languages, foods,
historical context, holidays or traditions.
● A dish for serving in sample sizes. This could be a snack, fruit, entree, dessert or
drink. (Be prepared to share ingredient info for allergies.) Grocery gift cards are
available through the PTO to support families in getting supplies.
● Any other meaningful objects or items for display.
Everyone from the JSS community is welcome to attend the event to visit tables and

mundo JSS en La vuelta al mundo, un evento comunitario de larga data que regresa post-
covid en Jackson Street School.

¡Las familias de JSS que tengan una conexión familiar con lugares, culturas e idiomas que
quieran compartir o estén interesadas en aprender más sobre otros lugares, culturas e idiomas
pueden participar! JSS La vuelta al mundo se guía por principios de apreciación en lugar de
apropiación,* lo que significa que el evento no estereotipará ni mercantilizará las culturas, sino
que honrará, empoderará y elevará a nuestra comunidad JSS en un compromiso y aprendizaje

La participación incluye la creación de una mesa que muestre el profundo agradecimiento que
su familia tiene por la cultura que comparten. Los elementos opcionales de una tabla podrían
incluir:

● Un plato para servir en tamaños de muestra. Puede ser un refrigerio, fruta, plato típico,
postre o bebida. (Esté preparado para compartir información sobre los ingredientes en
caso de alergias.) Las tarjetas de regalo para comestibles están disponibles a través del
PTO para ayudar a las familias a obtener suministros.
● Cualquier otro objeto o elemento significativo para exhibición.

mesas y socializar!

Movie night at JSS! The PTO is hosting a free, family movie night at Jackson Street on Friday, February 2nd at 6:30 pm. Join us for Super Mario Brothers in the JSS cafeteria. Bring something to get cozy with for watching with your family. (Please note: This is not a drop off event - grown ups are to accompany their kids.) There will be popcorn!

Details Join your JSS community to raise FUNds for great local causes. Grades K/1, 2/3, 4/5 will gather in one-hour increments to walk/roll the JSS campus course and then vote on the cause they’d like their grade’s $50 JSS PTO donation to go to.
