We Need Your New or Gently Used Kid's Books

posted May 23, 2017, 8:38 AM by JSS PTO

Each year the JSS PTO holds a FREE Book Fair so that all students can start their summer with books in hand. Our Book Fair will be held on Tuesday, June 13th and Wednesday, June 14th. Students will go with their teacher and classmates during one of those two days. Each child will be able to select at least one book (perhaps more based on how many books we receive) for FREE.

How can you help? We need your donations of gently used children's books. You can bring them in bags or boxes and leave them in the lobby. Please donate only books appropriate for K-5 reading. If you have older children, we can always use more advanced reading material for our 4th and 5th graders.

If you have books that you'd like to offload that are not appropriate or in good enough condition for our fair, please consider donating them to other organizations or recycling them.

Call for volunteers - if you'd like to help with the book sorting or the fair, please contact Gavin Grant at jacksonstreetpto@gmail.com or Elizabeth Horn.

Thank you!

May 2: Valley Gives 2017

posted Apr 18, 2017, 8:54 AM by JSS PTO   [ updated Apr 27, 2017, 2:08 PM ]

We need to replace the outdated books and the 1970s carpet and create a space that meets the needs of 21st century students. Last year local architect Tom Douglas donated his time and expertise and drew up plans to update the library and we began fundraising. We’re so close to being able to do this, but we're not quite there yet.

This summer our goals are to install new flooring, purchase new furniture, make the library fully accessible, and add new books to meet the needs of our students and teachers.

It's time to revise and reinvigorate the library. We have reimagined the library as a place that supports collaboration, creativity, investigation, and inquiry. A space where students learn how to integrate technology with research, where they can gather for stories or find a comfy spot to read, and a place for school wide community events.

Your contribution will help us see this vision become reality.

Together we can give our fine, fine school a fine, fine library!
